19.01.2024 07:00

On the 17th of January 2024 the tenth grades of our Community School got ready to go to Hamburg to watch the classic tale "The Hounds of the Baskervilles" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle at the English Theatre.

After a bit of a muddle at the train station, lots of cold feet, and two cancelled trains the 10a, Svea Dreczka, Birte Knudsen and Milena Schmidt managed to reach the sold out performance just in time.

Two actors and one actress portrayed nine different roles and presented the play in new and comedic ways. Sir Charles Baskerville’s mysterious death caught the attention of renowned detective Sherlock Holmes and with Dr. Watson in tow he went to look for answers and find out about the secret of Baskerville.
Many of the students were enthralled by the performance: “I thought it was very funny - even if I didn’t understand everything that was going on.”
Some especially enjoyed the humorous summery of the first act which took place after the intermission: "I loved it when the actors were running about on stage to remind us what happened in the first half, so funny!“
One student was also impressed by the English actors‘ authentic accents. “They didn’t make any mistakes even though they were speaking so quickly“, he said.

After the entertaining performance everybody enjoyed themselves at the Centre Mundsburg. There they had time to eat some nice hot food at the Food Court and to do some shopping.

In the evening the group made their way back to Heide by suburban and regional trains and luckily faced no further delays.
